ROLE OF THE SASKATCHEWAN MINING ASSOCIATION (SMA):

Liaison and consultation withappropriate departments and agencies of Government, both Provincial and Federal, to ensure the safe, profitable and orderly development of the mineral resources of the province.

Development of public information programs directed to all areas of society, to promote a better understanding of the role played by mining in the socio-economic life of the Province, and indeed of Canada. 

Encouragement, organization and co-ordination of programs of study and research into matters of mutual interest and concern, particularly health, safety, environmental impact, and industrial relations.To these ends the SMA co-operates closely with equivalent Associations in other Provinces, with the Mining Association of Canada, and Prospectors and Developers ssociation of Canada; and with Universities and Research organizations.

The SMA may be justly regarded as the voice of the Mining Industry in Saskatchewan.
