DRA Global has announced the appointment of Peter Mansell as Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the DRA Global Board of Directors following its Anglo American contract win.
“We welcome Peter to DRA Global. Peter’s background in managing professional services firms and his extensive international corporate and board experience aligns with DRA’s ongoing strategic journey, and we look forward to him joining the Board and the DRA team,” said Andrew Naude, CEO of DRA Global.
Peter Mansell is currently Chairman of Energy Resources of Australia, Cancer Research Fund and Foodbank of Australia. He commented: “I’m very excited to be joining DRA. The organisation has evolved significantly over the past three decades and I’m honoured to be part of the growth and transformation going forward. DRA has delivered some flagship projects in the mining and resources industry and I look forward to working with the board and management team to continue building this impressive resume.”
Back in August DRA was awarded the contract for the feasibility study for the Anglo American, Coarse Particle Recovery plant on the Quellaveco project, currently in construction in the Moquegua region of Peru.
Quellaveco is the first mine operation for Anglo American in Peru and will be one of the largest Greenfield projects in the region. The project also benefits from its location in Peru’s most established copper producing region. Quellaveco is currently in construction with estimated ore reserves of 1.3 billion tonnes, containing approximately 7.5 million tonnes of copper. First copper concentrate is expected to be produced in 2022.
The Feasibility Study portion of the CPR project is expected to be completed by March 2020.
Pierre Julien, Executive Vice President of DRA Americas stated: “Securing this strategic project strongly bolsters our ambitions and plans for growth in Peru, and we are excited to partner with Anglo American to ensure a positive outcome for this strategic project”
