Stellar Diamond, the London listed diamond company, has announced the Sierra Leone Minerals Advisory Board have verbally approved a mining licence for its Tongo project.

The licencing process will now be subject to the National Minerals Agency, the licencing body of the Ministry of Mines. They will then write to Stellar to inform them of any decision and draw up a licencing agreement, which will then be negotiated between Stellar and the Government of Sierra Leone.

Stellar is also negotiating with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with regards to obtaining an environmental licence.

The Tongo Diamond project, 45km north-north-east of Kenema, Sierra Leone, is an exploration mine that looks to recover 955,930 carats in diamonds over its 18-year lifetime.
